Mite A - North Texas Coach Brian Shantz Brian Shantz, a native of Edmonton, Alberta arrived in San Antonio in October 1994 to play for the CHL Iguanas, San Antonio's first professional hockey franchise. He played in the Memorial Cup for the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL in the 1989-1990 season, was a two time Ken Mckenzie Trophy winner and received the Bill Levins MVP trophy in the 1995-1996 season while playing for the Iguanas. Brian spent 1 1/2 years as Director of Hockey for Northwoods Ice Center where he still plays in the Men's Hockey League. He has coached Mite house hockey and has even filled in a few times behind the bench for the AHL San Antonio Rampage. He and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 11 years and have two sons, Brandon and Garrett. In his spare time he loves to play golf. Coach Shantz's goals for this season are to help these young players develop fundamental hockey skills, teach them about sportsmanship and how to become good teammates. He believes the most important aspects of youth hockey include having fun, learning to be good winners and losers, and becoming better team players. Coach Shantz's advice to aspiring hockey players is to strive to give 100% effort everytime they step on the ice, have fun, do the best they can and enjoy everyday they get to spend time on the ice. |

Squirt B - North Texas Assistant Coach Jeff Campbell Jeff is a native Texan. He has loved the game of hockey since about age 10. When his son began to play at the mite level, he became fully immersed in hockey with a desire to coach. The greatest reward for him is seeing young players score their first goal, make a good pass, and see a smile on their faces when they leave the ice. That is what makes hockey so special. |

Bantam A2 - North Texas Coach Andy Rosengard Coach Andy grew up in New Jersey. His competitive hockey experience ended at the ripe old age of fourteen. However in the thirty three years since he hung up his skates he has taught the game of hockey to players of all age groups and has coached teams in various divisions and levels of play. His philosophy on coaching is a simple one: First and foremost, have fun. “When a child is having fun doing what they love to do, it is easier to teach them new skills and systems.” On the ice, Andy challenges his teams to step up and give it their all. Off the ice, Andy stresses the importance of being a responsible individual, a good student and a good citizen. Before each game Andy will talk to his players about life skills and how to incorporate them into their hockey playing. Andy’s son Danny plays on the team. |
